Swale
In our mountainous region we often are faced with issues related to drainage. Â Keeping water away from building foundations is crucial. Â We create swales both to provide drainage solutions and to beautify landscapes. Â Some small swales are created to resemble dry streams and are composed primarily of river cobbles. Â This large swale was originally a weed-infested abandoned irrigation ditch which bisected the property. Â We cleared and widened the ditch, imported high quality, screened topsoil and planted shrubs, flowers and bulbs. Â This swale is bursting with color from April through October.
