What's New
This is the perfect time to plant perennials. As the weather cools and days shorten, there is less stress on newly planted perennials. The soil temperatures are warm and many perform best when planted in the fall. They don't wilt and struggle in the long, hot weather. There is still 8-10 weeks of growing time for roots to become well established before the ground freezes.

Energy Curtains
In November 2010, through our involvement with the Energy Challenge
Program, we received an efficiency rebate from Garfield Clean Energy that
assisted us in installing these energy curtains. Controlled
automatically, they will close during inclement weather and in the
evenings to provide additional insulation and reduce heating costs.

Fall is for Perennials, Manager's Special: Buy One, Get One Free
This is the perfect time to plant perennials. As the weather cools and days shorten, there is less stress on newly planted perennials. The soil temperatures are warm and many perform best when planted in the fall. They don't wilt and struggle in the long, hot weather. There is still 8-10 weeks of growing time for roots to become well established before the ground freezes.
Choose your location carefully. Do NOT plant perennials where they will be disturbed by snow plows or during spring clean up. Select the right plant for the location. Our staff is happy to help you select for shade, sun, poor soils or whatever conditions you might have.
When planting perennials be sure to amend the soil with compost. Dig a hole twice the size of the pot the plant is in and mix the compost with the existing soil while planting. If the plant is pot-bound, tease the roots and/or cut off the bottom 1". All perennials should be planted at the same depth as they are found in the pot.
Water thoroughly both before planting (while in the pot) and right after. Until the perennial has the chance to root in, it may be necessary to water more frequently during hot weather. We would be delighted to help you design your garden, help plant and maintain it.
